Today I'd like to welcome fellow fab author and fangirl extraordinaire Shyla Colt to talk about her latest release, Mistaken Identity.
Write what you know. It’s a phrase you see floating around a lot. Dig into those familiar memories, places, people, and experiences that’ll breath life into your characters. Give your readers the feeling , hey this author knows their stuff. I know a little bit about a lot, most of it nerd related. Yes, I wave my geek flag high. Not only am I named after a first edition Superman comic. I’m a techie. I graduated with an AS in Science for Lighting and Sound Design. Yes, I fly my nerd flag high, and wave it proudly. So, when I gave my muse free reign, she took off like a kid who’s been cooped up in a car for too long, and Larped Mistaken Identity was born.
Larped gives you the chance to escape in the Tardis with The Doctor, ride in the Impala with the Winchesters, and be a leading lady in every movie you’ve ever obsessed over. It’s the ultimate fan girl fodder, because at one point haven’t we all find that niche we love to bits and pieces. I know I do over, and over again. *cough Simon from Misfits…. I’m just saying I wouldn’t have minded being Alisha at all… post slag years. If you’re wondering what shows I’m talking about, don’t fret, I’m listing them at the end of this blog with links. I love to spread the good t.v. around. *Winks*
In this story our lead character, Kansas, finds herself in a bar on her thirtieth birthday with a look-alike from her favorite show, Paranormal Investigation. A few drinks later, her inexplicable connection and attraction have worn her down. The Fortress , as her bestie calls her , breaks and she heads back to the hotel where the convention takes places. Funny thing about one night stands… they have the ability to look totally different in the light of a new day. Turns out her look alike is actually the real deal, and he wants much more than one night.
How would you react? Would the giant lie he just told stick in your craw , perhaps make you weary of trusting anything else he had to say? For a chance to win a copy of Larped, answer the question above. (and don't forget to leave your email address!)
Blurb:
Calling off the wedding to his high school sweetheart has sitcom star, Jett Walker, struggling with a deep depression. Exhausted from feigning happiness for convention goers, he escapes to a dive bar. An unexpected encounter leads him to his salvation in the form of Kansas Collins. A curvaceous beauty with lips that beg to be kissed and a body made for loving. Smitten, he allows the assumption that he’s a larper to stand.
Scarred by the tug-of-war her dysfunctional parents place her in, relationships are a four letter word to Kansas. Then a charming southern man, sweeps her off her feet, and delivers sex that transcends a simple exchange of pleasure. Her mind screams soul mate, but when his lies surface their fairytale goes south. Uncertain what’s real or ruse Kansas is torn.
Can Jett convince her it’s a once in a lifetime love?

A Beautiful Lie by Tyler Robbins
Today I'm sharing a new m/m release from Tyler Robbins called A Beautiful Lie. Enjoy!
Blurb:
Jesse Reagan has had more than his share of tragedy, and he may have been dealt another blow when, once again, cancer threatens the sister who raised him. Faced with the possibility of being left behind, Jesse vows to care for her young son, though he’s not convinced he can.
When Trip Cantrell returns to town, he’s blindsided the instant he’s reunited with his kid brother’s lifelong friend, Jesse. His inability to find happiness in the years he’s been gone, suddenly makes sense. Love’s been waiting at home all along.
Life begins to look promising, except for the fact that neither have come out of the closet publicly, and that’s not even their biggest problem. Someone has a secret so shocking they may never find a way past it.
Will they be accepted in their small Texas town, or will secrets, lies, and the threat of tragedy destroy everything?
Some small towns just aren’t meant to hold big secrets.
Excerpt:
Trip could feel the tension radiating from the other man. Following his instincts, he gripped Jesse’s shoulder and squeezed. “You’re not alone you know. If you ever want to talk or need help with anything, let me know.”
Jesse turned his head, shocking the hell out of Trip by leaning in to where Trip held his shoulder, slightly brushing his cheek against Trip’s fingers.
Trip tightened his grip, savoring the feel of Jesse’s skin touching his. Was he imagining it?
Jesse slowly lifted his chin as his green eyes, darkening by the second, settled on Trip.
Trip’s heart raced, and his hardening c**k pressed against the zipper of his jeans. Was this really happening?
He inched closer, inhaling deep, losing himself in the aroma of Jesse’s quite memorable cologne. He swallowed hard, his lips tingling at the thought of Jesse’s mouth on his.
Jesse’s chest rose and fell, his breathing grew louder by the second, infiltrating Trip’s mind until his own breaths caught up, matching Jesse’s pants breath for heated breath. Jesse’s eyelids lowered to half-mast, his desire obvious as f**k.
Trip reacted on instinct alone, no thinking, just doing. He pulled Jesse closer until their lips were centimeters apart. Jesse’s exhales warmed Trip’s skin.
The night went silent the instant Jesse’s soft lips grazed Trip’s.
Seconds felt like hours until Trip engulfed Jesse’s mouth all together. With hungry sweeps, Trip dove deeper, sucking, and tangling his tongue with Jesse’s. He cupped the back of Jesse’s neck, and held on as their mouths warred for dominance over the other.
Trip gasped when Jesse’s wandering hand discovered his erection through his jeans. “F**k.”
Hot air poured over Trip’s neck as Jesse’s kisses blanketed his throat.
“I’ve wanted to do that all night.” Trip splayed his fingers through Jesse’s silky, black hair, hoping against hope Jesse would move his mouth lower.
Jesse fumbled with the buttons on Trip’s shirt, and plucked the first few open. He worked his way across Trip’s chest, circling Trip’s erect nipples with his warm, wet tongue. “S**t, Jesse.” Trip struggled to catch his breath. Everything was so intense, moved so fast, Trip could hardly tell if it was real.
He leaned Jesse back, seizing the few stolen moments he hoped were actually happening. His kisses grew heavier, and his need increased. He’d take it as far as Jesse would let him. He had no choice. Please let this be real.

Storm Season by Nicola Cameron
Today I welcome Nicola Cameron, with her latest release, Storm Season.
Thanks for letting me come on your blog today! I'm really excited about the release of Storm Season -- not only is it my first full-length novel, it's also the first book in my Olympic Cove series, which is best described as "Humans, Greek Gods, and mythological creatures must band together in Florida to save Earth from an insane deity who wants to remake the planet in its own diseased image. No pressure." The entire series is fantasy erotic romance with science fiction and action/adventure elements; pairing-wise, the first two books in the series are MMM, the third and fifth books are MMF, the fourth book is MMMFF (oh, I'm looking forward to writing THAT), and the sixth book is MF. Yeah, I was never all that good about coloring inside the lines...
BLURB:
Ian West had his summer all planned out — go down to Florida, stay in his family’s beach cottage on Olympic Cove, and work on his science fiction novel. But his plans get thrown for a loop when gorgeous twin sea gods Bythos and Aphros show up in the cove and inform him he’s their fated consort.
As if that wasn’t enough, something in the Gulf of Mexico is turning mermaids into legendary monsters and gods into demons. Now, Ian not only has to navigate the complicated waters of a ménage relationship with twin sea gods, he also has to stop an insane deity and save the whole damn planet.
No pressure.

EXCERPT
“So … you just waited for me? All this time?”
“Yes,” Bythos said. “And you finally returned to us, and dreamed of us as we dreamed of you.” With care, he slid an arm around Ian. “I meant what I said earlier. We will never harm you, and we will never force you into anything you don’t want to do. But we need you, Ian, just as you need us.”
“We do need you,” Aphros said, moving in to lay the softest of kisses on Ian’s shoulder. “You’re the sun and the moon to us. We’ve dreamed about you for so long. Please, Ian, let us love you.”
Ian shivered at the softness of the demigod’s lips as they feathered along his shoulder, tracing the curve to his neck. His desire bloomed again, a warm heaviness settling in his groin. “You dreamed about me?” he whispered.
“Every night,” Aphros said. “You have no idea how you tormented us with your skin, the sounds you made.”
“And your taste,” Bythos murmured, leaning in now and brushing the tip of his tongue over Ian’s skin. “I can’t describe how delicious you are. You taste like everything good in the world. Like home.”
“Like ours,” Aphros said.
Ian moaned at the sensation of their mouths on his neck, their hands wandering across his chest, plucking gently at his nipples. “Oh, God,” he breathed.
“Gods, actually,” Aphros said, lifting his mouth from Ian’s neck for a moment. “Well, demigods, but still.”
“Aph, shut up,” Bythos said, sliding a broad, warm palm around Ian’s jaw and pulling him closer. “We have better things to do.”
BIO
Nicola Cameron is an expatriate Chicagoan who has lived in England, Canada, Holland, and Sweden, and keeps a confusing amalgamation of languages in her head as a result. Currently located in the clavicle of Texas, she has finally mastered the proper use of "y'all," much to her Chicago family's dismay.
Despite a healthy interest in sex since puberty, it wasn't until 2012 that Nicola decided to try writing about it. As it turned out, the skills she picked up during her SF writing career transferred rather nicely to erotic romance. When not writing, she wrangles cats, smooches her husband, makes dolls of dubious and questionable identity, and thanks almighty Cthulhu that she doesn’t have to work for a major telecommunications company any more (because there’s BDSM, and then there’s just plain torture...).
